High-surf advisory for east shores extended till 6 p.m.

Advertiser Staff

A high-surf advisory for east shores has been extended until 6 tonight, the National Weather Service said.

The strong trade winds will be decreasing slowly today and through the weekend, but are continuing to generate rough, choppy conditions.

The forecast calls for surf 4 feet to 8 feet along east shores today, south shores to see surf 4 feet to 6 feet, north shore surf 2 feet to 4 feet and west shore surf 1 foot to 3 feet.

A moderate northwest swell is expected on Saturday, which will cause surf to be near high-surf advisory thresholds along north-facing shores. The swell will decrease slightly Sunday but will be reinforced by an even larger west-northwest swell on Monday. A small to moderate south swell arriving today will continue through next Monday.
