High-surf advisory in effect for most islands

Advertiser Staff

The National Weather Service has issued a high-surf advisory for all north- and west-facing shores of Ni'ihau, Kaua'i, O'ahu, Moloka'i and Maui.

Another late-season, northwest swell is expected to affect the coastlines of the main islands by early this morning, forecasters said. The swell was generated by a storm that passed far to the northwest of the Islands a few days ago.

Surf along north-facing shores is expected to build to 12 to 18 feet today while surf along west-facing shores is expected to reach 8 to 12 feet.

The high surf advisory will remain in effect until 6 p.m. Sunday.
