Kamehameha Highway to be closed tonight at Waimea Bay

Kamehameha Highway will be closed in both directions from 10 p.m. tonight to 4 a.m. Monday to permit the removal of concrete construction barriers.The barriers were put in place earlier this month following a major rockslide that closed the highway for more than a day until one through-lane could be opened.
Following tonight's closure, both lanes will be reopened and the roadway will be restored to its normal two-lane configuration. Motorists are advised to use an alternate route during these hours. City buses and emergency vehicles will be escorted through the closed area.
