Trade winds likely to pick up a bit on Monday

Mostly sunny weather is expected today, according to the National Weather Service, although there may be a few isolated trade wind showers.

As a strong high pressure system passes by to the north of the Islands on Monday, the trades will strengthen and by Monday night, will range from 20 to 25 mph in windier areas, forecasters said.

Trade wind showers may also increase somewhat beginning Monday night.

Here's a more detailed look at the next few days:

Today, sunny. Isolated showers until mid morning. Highs 79 to 85. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Tonight, mostly clear with isolated showers. Lows 63 to 74. East winds 15 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Monday, mostly sunny with isolated showers. Highs 77 to 85. East winds 15 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Monday night, partly cloudy in the evening then becoming cloudy. Isolated showers. Breezy. Lows 64 to 75. Northeast winds 15 to 25 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Tuesday, mostly cloudy with isolated showers. Breezy. Highs 78 to 84. East winds 15 to 25 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.
