Waikiki man charged in theft case

Advertiser Staff

A 30-year-old Waikiki man was charged Friday with 10 counts related to identity and credit card theft as well as being in possession of a stolen moped.

The charges against Michael Lance Weigle of Cleghorn Street, who has nine criminal convictions, came out of a traffic violation stop Thursday at 4:50 a.m. on Kapi'olani Boulevard and Wiliwili Street.

After pulling Weigle over, police learned that the moped he was operating was stolen.

Weigle was also allegedly in possession of a shopping bag that contained identification and bank-issued credit cards that did not belong to him.

Prosecutors charged him with unauthorized possession of confidential information, credit card theft and auto theft.

His bail is $11,000.
