Are you ready for Mother's Day?

Advertiser Staff

Mother's Day is coming up.

Hello? Have you started your handprint ceramic plate yet?

Mother's Day is always the second Sunday in May, which this year lands on May 13.

Among the favorite things to do for moms is to spend the day with their progeny. There are movies she's sure to love (it's her turn to pick, and probably won't be any Teenage Mutant Ninja anythings, unless she's feeling generous).

There's always breakfast in bed — where burnt toast tastes better, of course. And flowers, picked from the garden — or on a neighborhood safari.

Around town, there's the Mother's Day Pampering and Keiki Fun Soiree to prep Mom, at 9 a.m. May 3 at McCoy Pavilion, put on by the Baby Hui.

The free event includes keiki and parent haircuts, face painting, mini-manicures, mini-massages, snacks, etc.

The free event ends at 1 p.m. Information: 386-7271.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has set up a free musical presentation to celebrating and honor women. The concert, titled "In Praise of Virtuous Women" will be 7 p.m. April 29 at The Honolulu Hawaii State Tabernacle, 1560 Beretania St.

The title for the concert comes from the Bible: "Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies." (Proverbs 31:10). Free parking is available in the adjoining parking structure, at the corner of Punahou and Beretania streets.
