Advertiser Staff

LIHU'E, Kaua'i—The state Department of Land and Natural Resources has reopened the trail to Kalalau Valley after maintenance was conducted on a section at Pohakuao.

The department's Division of State Parks had received reports that the section was unsafe, and closed it pending a check and maintenance. Parks maintenance personnel also cleaned up camping areas at Hanakoa and Kalalau valleys.

Day use permits are required on the Kalalau Trail beyond Hanakapi'ai Valley. For more information see www.state.hi.us/dlnr/dsp.
