Tickets for 'Lion King' on sale Saturday

Individual tickets for the "The Lion King" begin Saturday, April 28 at the Neal Blaisdell Center Box Office, 777 Ward Ave., Honolulu.

For the first three hours of the sale, 6 to 9 a.m., tickets will be available at the box office only.

With the expectation that there will be hundreds of people in line to get tickets to see "The Lion King," Disney is working to ensure that the experience in line is pleasurable. Working in cooperation with the City & County of Honolulu, greetings and entertainment are planned for ticket buyers in line at the Blaisdell Center.

The schedule:

5 a.m.: Emcees begin to wake up those who spent the night in line. Free pastries, coffee, smoothies, water and newspapers will be distributed.

5:30 a.m.: Mayor Mufi Hannemann welcomes the crowd.

5:45 a.m.: Kahu Danny Akaka blesses the event.

6 a.m.: Box office opens. Entertainment will be provided, and prizes given away.

Some of the complimentary items available for those in line:

  • Food and beverages provided by Starbucks and Times Supermarket

  • Newspapers provided by The Honolulu Advertiser

  • Full length Lion King CDs to the first 100 people in line

  • T-shirts for all ticket purchasers (one shirt per ticket order)

  • Massages from Heaven On Earth Spa

  • Entertainment by Hawai'i musicians, hula halau and keiki singers.

  • Karaoke and trivia contests with prizes such as a Land Rover, a trip to Las Vegas, Times Supermarket gift cards, Heaven On Earth gift packages and more

    Beginning at 9 a.m., tickets may also be purchased at all Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at (877) 750-4400, or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
