Taxi meter inspections on O'ahu start today

Advertiser Staff

The state Department of Agriculture starts its annual taxi meter inspections around O'ahu today through June 8.

The inspections are being done by the department's Measurement Standard Branch on a first-come, first-serve basis from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. Inspections are at the MSB, located at 1851 Auiki St.

Taxi meter inspections involve running the taxi through a premeasured course to determine that the meter is working properly, helping to ensure that riders are accurately charged for their fare.

Taxi drivers are required to have all identification, registration and business paperwork available, including a current and correct rate card, for inspection.
