Smoke-testing of sewer lines will be conducted on 14 Waipahu streets tomorrow through Friday and May 1-4.

The tests, using non-toxic and odorless smoke, will be done on Awamoku Street, Awamoku Place, Awanani Street, Maika'i Street, Maika'i Place, Awai'a Street, Awanui Street, Awala'i Street, Awala'i Place, Awaiki Street, Awaiki Place, Po'ailani Circle, Po'ailani Place and Waipi'o Point Access Road.

The tests locate broken pipes, illegal connections and other paths for rainwater runoff to enter the sewer system. Runoff can overwhelm the system, causing spills.
