Peter Young confirmation debate begins in Senate

The Hawai'i state Senate has taken up floor debate on the controversial nomination of Peter Young as director of the Department of Land and Natural Resources. Young's nomination, which was rejected in committee, appeared to be in trouble on the floor of the full 25-member Senate.Earlier today, the Senate confirmed the renomination of Mark Bennett as state attorney general.
Debate on Young's nomination began around 1 p.m.
