Charges pending in kidnapping of pregnant woman

A 25-year-old Hickam Village woman arrested Monday for investigation of allegedly violating a temporary restraining order, kidnapping and threatening the pregnant ex-girlfriend of her boyfriend was still in police custody last night.

The woman, arrested at her Smith Circle home at 9:30 p.m., is being held at the main police station cellblock.

Police have 48 hours from time of arrest to present a case to prosecutors for charges or must release the woman.

The victim, 25, who is eight months pregnant, told police she was forced into a van by the woman and two unknown men at an undisclosed Salt Lake location at 2:45 p.m. Monday and held against her will until 3:30 p.m. when she was set free.

The woman said she was threatened with a gun and that her captors kicked her and stepped on her stomach.

Honolulu police spokeswoman Michelle Yu said the preganant woman was examined at a hospital and released.
