The Honolulu Police Department will dedicate new offices at the Hawai'i National Guard Armory on 22nd Avenue tomorrow for its District 6 (Waikiki) and District 7 (East Honolulu) crime reduction units at 11 a.m.

Waikiki is the only one of HPD's eight patrol districts with day and night operation CRU personnel.

Sgt. Mike Cusumano heads Waikiki's six-officer day unit while Sgt. Vernon Buch supervises the six-member night team.

East Honolulu CRU is supervised by Sgt. Guy Perreira.

Both district CRU units currently work out of the main police station.

The space for the new offices was donated by the National Guard, said HPD spokeswoman Michelle Yu.

HPD broke ground last April on the offices, located near 29th Brigade Headquarters, Yu said. She did not have cost figures for the new offices.

Lt. Gov. James Aiona, Mayor Mufi Hannemann, and Police Chief Boisse Correa plan to attend the dedication ceremonies.
