State suspends license of Kaua'i insurance agent

Advertiser Staff

The state has suspended the insurance license of Kaua'i agent Meredith Dabin for misappropriating a client's auto insurance premiums and altering policy records without authorization.

"People in a position of trust can not take other people's money without honoring promises to provide something in return," State Insurance Commissioner J.P. Schmidt said in a news release. "We want people to know that lawbreakers will be brought to justice."

The state said Dabin failed to remit automobile insurance money she collected or renew the policy in a timely manner. When confronted, Dabin repaid the premium money, the state said.
