Funeral Monday for former prosecutor Marsland

Funeral services for former Honolulu prosecutor Charles F. "Chuck" Marsland Jr. will be Monday at Central Union Church. Viewing will be from 9 to 10 a.m., with services at 10 a.m. and burial at 11:30 a.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.

Marsland died April 11 at his Hawai'i Kai home. He was 84. He was the third-generation grandson of Norwegian emigrants to Hawai'i, a graduate of Punahou School and a World War II veteran who served with amphibious forces in the Pacific. Marland was Honolulu prosecutor from 1980 to 1988.

He is survived by his companion of 40 years, Polly Grigg.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Punahou Endowment Fund in the names of Charles F. Marsland Jr. and Charles F. Marsland III. Arrangements by Borthwick Mortuary.
