Wai'anae man indicted for murder

By Rod Ohira
Advertiser Staff Writer

A 35-year-old Wai'anae man indicted for murder will be prosecuted under a Hawai'i law covering young and elderly victims.

Gary R. Avilez, who is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail at the O'ahu Community Correctional Center, is charged with the beating death of Domingo "Junior" Correa, 69, who died April 19 at The Queen's Medical Center from injuries sustained April 7.

The indictment stated Avilez knew or reasonably should have known of Correa's disability due to his age.
