Hilton Waikiki Prince Kuhio donates beds to homeless

Advertiser Staff

The Hilton Waikiki Prince Kuhio hotel is donating 40 rollaway beds and 50 chairs to residents of the Kamehameha IV housing complex in Kalihi and a new homeless shelter in Wai'anae.

"When we received (the) donation request we were pleased to have the opportunity to be part of this solution to the island's homeless problem," said Jay Leonard, general manager of the Hilton Waikiki Prince Kuhio. "As we near the completion of our hotel's renovation we are pleased to contribute these items to facilities with greatest needs."

The donations were coordinated by the REPAC Foundation. Many of the residents of the two facilities are Pacific Islanders, a REPAC spokesman said. REPAC is part of the Association of Pacific Island Legislatures, an organization in which Hawai'i holds membership.
