A little less than 50 years from now, folks in the high-tech Tomorrowland of Honolulu will be able to sense a bit of what it was like back in the "good old days" of 2007.

That's because a time capsule containing artifacts and memories of Honolulu's Centennial Celebration was placed deep in a marker formally recognizing the Frank. F. Fasi Civic Center grounds. The marker, one of several dedicated Thursday, honor the long-term mayor of Honolulu (who was instrumental in pushing the civic center complex).

Among the items in the time capsule, to be opened in 2055, include an iPod, an empty can of Spam, a copy of the July 2 Honolulu Advertiser, centennial coins, T-shirts, a CD with current Mayor Mufi Hannemann featured on "I Fell In Love With Honolulu," a DVD of KGMB's television special on Honolulu history, a Zippy's Menu, photos of the Honolulu City Lights celebrations and other documents and notes from elected officials and other items.

Fasi was unable to attend but his wife, Joyce, thanked the crowd and Hannemann for honoring her husband's work in creating the grassy, open Civic Center.
