Horizon Lines' Jan.-Mar. profit nearly triples to $7.1M

Advertiser Staff

Horizon Lines Inc., the second largest shipping line carrying freight between the Mainland and Hawai'i, said net income in the three months ended March 31 nearly tripled to $7.1 million, or 21 cents a share.

That compared with a year previous' profit of $2.4 million, or 7 cents per share.

The Charlotte, North Carolina-based company said operating revenue fell by $1.2 million to $273.7 million, reflecting soft market conditions in Puerto Rico and an extended winter in Alaska.
