Man asleep in running car arrested on multiple counts

Advertiser Staff

A 41-year-old Pearl City man was arrested early this morning after a police officer reported finding the man asleep in the driver's seat of a car in Mililani that was stopped in the middle of the street with its motor running.

The man was arrested on suspicion of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle after the officer learned the car was on the stolen vehicle list.

After searching the car and finding a glass pipe and a packet of what appeared to be crystal methamphetamine, the officer also arrested the driver on suspicion of drug offenses.

Finally, during the booking process at the police station, a credit card belonging to someone else was found on the suspect along with a PIN number and other account information, police said. That led to the suspect's arrest on suspicion of unauthorized possession of confidential personal information.
