Tribute seeks Boy Choir grads

By Wayne Harada
Advertiser Entertainment Writer

Honolulu Boy Choir alumni are sought to join a special rehearsal at 6 p.m. Monday at the rehearsal hall of Central Union Church, to prepare a musical homage for the late Roy Hallman, choir founder and former director, who died last Thursday at his Hawai'i Kai home.

Blake M. Nuibe, executive director of the boy choir from 1989 to 2001, is coordinating a group performance of "This Is Our Island Home" and "May the Good Lord Bless & Keep You/Aloha 'Oe," at the funeral and memorial services for Hallman, set for 5 p.m. Tuesday at Central Union, where friends may call from 3:30 p.m.

Nuibe said that men unable to attend the rehearsal may still show up and perform at the services.

Kaimi Pelekai, a boy choir alumnus, will direct the tribute performance; Hallman's widow, Nyle Hallman, will be accompanist.

For information, former choir members may call Nuibe at 592-5043 or e-mail bnuibe@hotmail.com.
