Three hotels win state's 'Green Business Award'

Advertiser Staff

The state has awarded three hotels with the annual "Green Business Award" for their work to develop and implement environmental practices into their operations.

Lt. Gov. James "Duke" Aiona today presented the awards to the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa, Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort and Spa, and the Sheraton Kaua'i Resort. It was the second Green Business Award for the Hilton.

"Through innovative 'green' practices, these businesses are doing their part to ensure that our residents and visitors can continue to enjoy a healthy environment," Aiona said.

The Green Business Awards Program is a partnership of the state departments of Health and Business Economic Development and Tourism, and the Chamber of Commerce of Hawai'i. The agencies work to assist and recognize businesses that operate in an environmentally responsible way.
