Jason Taylor, The Advertiser's vice president for sales, has been named Gannett Co.'s advertising executive of the year.

Taylor, 32, who was named to his new post last September, won the company's President's Ring for outstanding achievement and finished first among advertising executives at the company's 90 daily newspapers.

"Jason has demonstrated that providing creative solutions which drive results is the best form of service we can provide our advertisers," said Mike Fisch, The Advertiser's president and publisher. "He brings energy and creativity to everything he does."

Taylor oversees more than 200 employees, including the retail and classified ad departments, market development and the online staff. He also is in charge of the Custom Publishing Group and Pacific Media Publishing, which includes seven community People weekly newspapers.

"It is really a huge honor for my department," Taylor said. "I am part of an incredible team of hard-working, dedicated people who really put our customers first."

Last year, Taylor was named one of 13 award-of-excellence winners among Gannett Co.'s advertising managers. Taylor also won Gannett's Chairman's Award for his contributions to the company.

He joined The Advertiser in 2004 as retail ad director and was promoted to advertising director a year later. Before joining the paper in 2004, Taylor was general manager for The Times in Gainesville, Ga., and director of advertising and marketing for the Daily News Journal in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

He is a board member of HUGS Hawaii, the Hawaii Publishers Association, the Diamond Head Theater and SMEI Honolulu. He is PTSA president of Kamilioiki Elementary School.

Taylor and his wife, Honey, have three children. They live in Hawai'i Kai.
