WAIALUA
School will mark 40 years

Advertiser Staff

Waialua Elementary School will celebrate its 40th anniversary with a special May Day program at 9 a.m. Thursday at the school's field.

The celebration will honor the memory of the first principal who opened the school, Mildred Mesaku. She was scheduled to attend but died unexpectedly three weeks ago.

Also being recognized is Carolyn Hoopai, the school's first PTA president, whose great-granddaughter, a kindergartner, was selected as the court queen this year.

The celebration with song and pageantry will feature performances by the student body.

Alumni and residents are invited.
