Alama-Francis, Satele picked in NFL Draft second round

Alama-Francis, a Kalaheo High alum, was the 26th pick by the Detroit Lions in the second round and 58th overall. He was the first Warrior picked in this year's draft. The Lions traded up for the pick with New Orleans.
Satele, who is 6-feet-3 and 302 pounds, was the 28th pick by
the Miami Dolphins in the second round and 60th overall.
"That's awesome," UH football coach June Jones said. "That helps the program. That helps everything. I couldn't be happier for both of them,"
Alama-Francis, who is 6-feet-5, 276 pounds, played in 13 games for the Warriors last season, amassing 21 solo tackles and 18 assisted tackles, including 10 tackles for losses totaling 51 yards. The All-Western Athletic Conference first-team pick also had four sacks for 28 yards and recovered three fumbles.
Alama-Francis, who started his UH career on the basketball team, is the son of former NFL player Joe Francis and Rolenda Alama-Francis.
Satele, a Kailua High alum, was considered one of the top center prospects for this year's draft. He was a four-year starter and a two-time All-Western Athletic Conference first team pick, playing center, left guard and left tackle during his UH career. He was part of an offensive line that helped the Warriors lead in national in several statistical categories, including total offense, passing offense and touchdowns.
He is the son of Norine and Faalata Satele of Kane'ohe.
The Dolphins got the second-round (60th overall) pick from New England as part of the Wes Welker trade.
