Smethurst's no-hitter lifts Rainbows in softball, 11-0

Justine Smethurst pitched a six-inning no-hitter to lift No. 14 Hawai'i to an 11-0 victory over Utah State in the first game of a Western Athletic Conference softball doubleheader at Logan, Utah.Hawai'i is 44-9 overall and 15-2 in the WAC. Utah State is 17-30 and 5-9.
Smethurst (16-7), a sophomore, allowed two walks with one out in the first inning then finished retiring the next 17 batters. She struck out 10.
UH's Richie-Anne Titcomb hit a three-run homer in a six-run sixth inning. Tanisha Milca opened the game with a homer.
The Rainbow Wahine go for a sweep of the three-game series this afternoon.
