Kahuku upsets No. 2 Roosevelt in girls basketball

O'ahu Interscholastic Association

Kahuku 62, No. 2 Roosevelt 60

Taeja Afalava scored 16 points and McZeen Alae and Nicholle Nautu each added 12, helping the visiting Red Raiders beat the previously unbeaten and No. 2 ranked Rough Riders, 62-60, in an OIA Red East game.

Kahuku (4-8) trailed 48-46 entering the fourth quarter, but outscored Roosevelt, 16-12, the rest of the way.

Iwalani Rodrigues scored 21 points and Tasia Kamakawiwo'ole added 12 for Roosevelt (11-1).

No. 7 Kalani 54, Kalaheo 43

Courtney Gaddis scored a game-high 18 points to lead the seventh-ranked and visiting Falcons against the Mustangs, led by Anu Ah Yun team-high 14 points, in an OIA Red East game.

Kalani improves to 10-2 while Kalaheo is 5-7.

Waialua 62, Wai'anae 42

Chelsey Ramirez scored 18 points, Brittney Basillo added 11 and the host Bulldogs (6-5) made nine 3-pointers to roll past the Seariders (6-5) in an OIA White game.

Danielle Lovell had 17 points and Asioga Tago added 11 in the loss.

Interscholastic League of Honolulu

St. Andrew's 45, Word of Life 26

Raquel Sevil scored 10 points and the host Pride (8-4) led 11-3 after one quarter and 20-6 at halftime en route to beating the Firebrands (2-10) in an ILH Division II game.

Sanoe Aina scored nine points in the loss.

La Pietra 39, Le Jardin 17

Leah Kaina scored 13 points, Megan Giles added 12, and the host Lady Panthers (9-3) raced to a 15-0 first-quarter lead and never looked back in beating the Bulldogs (1-11) in an ILH Division II game.

Catlin Kahahawai scored seven points for Le Jardin.

Hawai'i Baptist 49, University High 35

Carissa Onuma scored 11 points and Ashley Salado added 10 to lead the host Eagles (6-6) past the Junior Rainbows (4-8).

Ku'ulei Baba had 13 points for University High.
