Cardinals select OT Levi Brown No. 5 overall

Advertiser Staff

The Arizona Cardinals, in need of an offensive lineman to protect franchise quarterback Matt Leinart, selected Penn State offensive tackle Levi Brown with the fifth overall pick in the first round of the NFL draft.

The Cardinals passed on highly publicized athletes such as Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn and Oklahoma running back Adrian Peterson. But the Cardinals already have star players, such as Leinart and running back Edgerrin James at those spots.

Brown is 6-feet-5 1/2 and 325 pounds.

He is expected to replace Leonard Davis, a former No. 1 draft pick who signed a free agent contract with the Dallas Cowboys in the offseason.
