Vikings select Oklahoma RB Peterson No. 7 overall

Advertiser Staff

The Minnesota Vikings, selecting No. 7 overall in the first round, picked Oklahoma running back Adrian Peterson in the NFL Draft.

By doing so, the Vikings passed on highly publicized quarterback Brady Quinn of Notre Dame. However, the Vikings drafted a quarterback with their second-round pick last year, Alabama State's Tarvaris Jackson.

Peterson is 6-feet-1 1/2, 220 pounds who runs the 40 in 4.4. He is considered a "home-run" threat whenever he breaks through the line of scrimmage.

Chester Taylor is the current incumbent running back for the Vikings.
