Advertiser Staff

A Saturday morning fire destroyed an 1,800-square foot warehouse containing packing materials and farming equipment in Pahoa on the Big Island.

Firefighters said a trash fire outside the building spread to the contents inside the warehouse.

The warehouse was engulfed by flames when the first fire units arrived about 8:45 a.m.

The fire, at 15-3224 Hoopili St., was reported to be under control at 8:50 a.m. and extinguished at 10:05 a.m.

Four engine companies responded to the blaze, which also destroyed two pickup trucks, a farm tractor and a forklift.

A damage estimate was not immediately available.
