UH's Weber, Heinemann named All-WAC in tennis

University of Hawai'i men's tennis players Andreas Weber and Sascha Heinemann were named to the All-Western Athletic Conference first team in singles, the conference announced today.

Weber also was named WAC Freshman of the Year. The pair also was named to the all-WAC second team in doubles.

Weber, from Huenfeld, Germany, was 15-2 in dual matches. In January, he achieved UH's highest singles national ranking at No. 37.

Heinemann, a sophomore from Eschwege, Germany, was 13-3 in dual matches at the Nos. 1 and 2 positions. He was on the All-WAC first team last season and Freshman of the Year.

UH finished its season with a 4-0 loss to Fresno State in the WAC semifinals on April. 28.

Both players are awaiting word on whether they qualified for the NCAA Individual Championships field.
