Three No. 1 seeds win BIIF tennis titles

Three of the four top-seeds prevailed at the Big Island Interscholastic Federation tennis tournament finals on Saturday at the Mauna Kea Resort.

Kaimalu Cope of Kealakehe won the boys singles title with a 6-0, 6-2 win over second-seeded Joshua Wong of Hilo. In boys doubles, Brady Smith and Michael Okada of Waiakea defeated the second-seeded team of Peter Cellier and Peter Shewmaker of Hilo 6-1, 7-6 (6).

In girls singles, second-seeded Sayo Tsukamoto of Kealakehe upset top-seeded Krystal Mizuguchi of Waiakea 6-3, 6-3. In girls doubles, Stephanie Tadaki and Kimi Katada of Hilo defeated unseeded teammates Stephanie Tamosan and Brunella Barbis 6-0, 6-1.
