Advertiser Staff

Hawai'i's newest state judges were sworn this afternoon to 10-year terms by Chief Justice Ronald Moon during ceremonies at the Hawai'i Supreme Court courtroom.

Mark Recktenwald is the new chief judge of the Intermediate Court of Appeals and Glenn Kim is the newest circuit court judge for O'ahu. The two were appointed by Gov. Linda Lingle from lists submitted to her by the Judicial Selection Commission. The state Senate approved both appointments.

Recktenwald served in Lingle's cabinet as the director of the state Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs. Kim was a city deputy prosecutor.

Their terms will end April 29, 2017.
