Miss Hawaii's Outstanding Teen heads to Orlando today

Moani Hara, Miss Hawai'i's Outstanding Teen for 2007, leaves for Orlando, Fla., this afternoon to represent Hawai'i in the Miss America's Outstanding Teen program.

The public is invited to wish her well at the American Airlines ticketing area at Honolulu International Airport at 5:30 p.m. today.

Moani, who was selected in June, competes against 51 other contestants Tuesday through Saturday, Aug. 7-11, at the Linda Chaplin Theatre in Orlando. She has been preparing for various phases of competition, including personal interview, lifestyle and fitness in sportswear, talent and evening wear.

The mission of the Miss America's Outstanding Teen organization is to promote scholastic achievement, creative accomplishment, healthy living and community involvement for America's teens.
