Free health screenings Saturday for the uninsured

Advertiser Staff

The National Medical Association is offering free blood pressure and diabetes screenings for those without health insurance on Saturday at the Hawai'i Convention Center.

The screenings will take place between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. in the main lobby.

The event is part of the association's 105th annual Convention and Scientific Assembly, which is expected to draw about 5,500 attendees to Honolulu. They are expected to spend about $26 million during the five-day conference.

Founded in 1895 the NMA is the nation's oldest and largest medical association representing the interests of more than 30,000 African-American physicians and their patients. The NMA advocates for policies that would assure equitable and quality healthcare for all people.
