DUI driver indicted for 2006 fatal crash

The driver of a car involved in a fatal crash in July 2006 on Farrington Highway near Waipahu High School was indicted today for first-degree negligent homicide.

The indictment noted Stann Newo was operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Havons Ludwig, 34, died from injuries suffered in the crash. Ludwig was a front-seat passenger in the car that went off Farrington Highway and struck a tree at 12:55 a.m. on July 5.

Newo was also indicted for first-degree negligent injury for causing critical bodily injuries to another passenger, Victorio William, according to the two-count indictment.
