Aloha Tower's ukulele contest now accepting entries

Ukulele players can now enter Aloha Tower Marketplace's second annual Ukulele Contest, which is set for 10 a.m. Sept. 16The event winner will get a chance to play in the 2008 Aloha Festivals.
"This event will celebrate the role of the ukulele in Hawaii's culture, which is why we are excited to have this tradition with the 61st anniversary of the Aloha Festivals," said Calvin Nelson, owner of The Hawaiian Ukulele Company.
Those interested in competing can stop by his store at Aloha Tower, located on the first floor.
Last year's contest winner, TJ Mayeshiro, as well as Chris Kamaka and Brian Tolentino will perform during the event. Those who attend can view ukulele displays by brands, such as Leolani and Kamaka.
