Drug charges are pending against a 34-year-old Nu'uanu man arrested by police last night at a Pi'ikoi Street apartment being used as an illegal video gaming room.

Central Honolulu Crime Reduction Unit officers arrested the man at 10:30 p.m. on the 600 block of Pi'ikoi Street for investigation of first-degree promotion of dangerous drugs.

Police seized about two ounces of crystal methamphetamine as evidence.

The man was among eight people in the one-bedroom unit allegedly playing 25-cent slot-type gaming devices called "fruit machines."

Police confiscated five machines but made no arrests for gambling.
