Police this evening asked the public to report any information on a missing 11-year-old boy who walked away from a Lanikai vacation rental home this morning.

Julian Barmettler was last seen at the home at 5 a.m., police said. He left without telling his parents and has not been heard from since. The family is on vacation from Switzerland.

His parents are concerned for his welfare and safety. Police Sgt. Kim Buffett said Barmettler suffers from Prader-Willi Syndrome and has no concept of danger or fear of anything, even extremely hazardous situations such as heavy traffic.

Barmettler is described as 5 feet 4 and 140 pounds, with blond hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a blue adidas T-shirt, green-orange-white swim shorts and black adidas slippers.

Anyone with information on him is asked to call police at 911 or the Missing Persons Detail at 529-3115.
