Keiko Bonk & Kazan plays Amy's Place Aug. 3

Advertiser Staff

The underground feel-good scene of First Friday is the seedy bar Amy's Place on the corner of Smith and Hotel streets. That's where people stumble on Keiko Bonk (one-time Big Island mayoral candidate and former frontwoman for '80s New York band His Master's Voice) and her band Kazan. They take the stage 8 p.m. to midnight on Friday, playing their bluesy brand of rock with a conscience.

With the presidential elections approaching, it's "time to regroup and soak up some inspiration at Amy's Place this Friday, this calls for cheap drinks and deep collective thoughts," said Bonk in a written statement.
