Two schools get building funds

Gov. Linda Lingle released $18.2 million in construction funds for projects at two Central Maui schools.

Baldwin High School in Wailuku received $9.5 million for a new library. Construction is scheduled to begin in December and be completed by April. The project includes restoring two classrooms now in use as the library.

Maui Waena Intermediate School in Kahului is getting $8.7 million for a new eight-classroom building, which will include three science classrooms, three general education classrooms, a music room and a computer resource center.

Construction is scheduled to begin in March and be completed by June.
