Skinner joining state's Creative Industries Division

Georja Skinner is joining the Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism as administrator for the Creative Industries Division.

The division oversees the state Film Office and Arts & Culture Development branch.

Skinner, a California native, has lived in Hawai'i 27 years. She will officially start her new job on Sept. 10. Skinner replaces Judy Drosd, who left the position last year.

According to DBEDT, Skinner has worked with Academy Award and Emmy Award winning writers and producers and has been instrumental in developing several series and feature film projects. Skinner founded Maui public relations firm Skinner Communications in 1983. In 1994, she was appointed as film industry development specialist for Maui County's film office.
