Makawao Hongwanji Mission has received a $10,000 grant from the Bank of Hawaii Charitable Foundation for its 100th anniversary capital improvement project, which will support altar refurbishment and facility renovations.

The mission will celebrate its centennial in October. In its early years, the mission provided education to plantation children and adults and community stability during the post-war years.

Today it continues to educate and care for children of all denominations and serves senior citizens with its award-winning Project Dana (selfless giving) program.
