Utility pole replacement to affect Makaloa traffic

Advertiser Staff

Hawaiian Electric Co. crews will be replacing two utility poles and associated equipment this week near the former Tower Records store.

The existing poles are damaged and must be removed for safety reasons, said HECO spokesman Darren Pai.

On-street parking along Makaloa Street will be restricted and traffic will be limited to a single, ewa-bound lane between Amana Street and Ke'eaumoku Street from 8:30 a.m. to 2:20 p.m. from Monday to Friday.

The traffic control measures are needed to allow Hawaiian Electric crews and construction vehicles safe and clear access to the area and for public safety, Pai said.
