56th Cherry Blossom Festival seeks candidates for the 2008 pageant who will be available for classes in Japanese culture and heritage this fall and complete one year of community service to promote Japanese American culture following the January crowning of the queen and her court; single women, 19-26, of at least 50 percent Japanese ancestry, Hawai'i residents and American citizens, must submit an application with a $25 fee by Aug. 15; download application form from www.cbfhawaii.com.
