NFL: Wide receiver Bowe agrees to terms with Chiefs

Associated Press

RIVER FALLS, Wis. — Dwayne Bowe, Kansas City's first-round draft pick, has agreed to terms on a five-year contract and reported to training camp today.

The wide receiver from LSU will begin camp on the physically unable-to-perform list. He will work out individually until he is in good enough shape to participate in team drills, Chiefs coach Herm Edwards said.

Bowe is not expected to play in Kansas City's first preseason game at Cleveland this weekend, but should be ready when the Chiefs host Miami on Aug. 16, Edwards said.

"We're going to bring him along slowly, let him get his legs under him," Edwards said.

Bowe, who missed the first 10 days of training camp, said he is relieved the holdout is over, and that he should be ready for team drills by the end of this week.

"Coach said I'm like 200 reps behind, but football is football," he said. "You go out there and run around, catch the ball. In my mind, I think in a couple of days I'll be in the groove and ready to go."
