NHL: Ducks goalie Giguere has hernia surgery

ANAHEIM, Calif. Anaheim Ducks goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere had surgery today to repair a sports hernia injury, and the Stanley Cup champions expect him to recover in time for training camp.Giguere had the operation in North Carolina and could rejoin the team for its first practice on Sept. 10.
The Montreal native led the Ducks to their first Stanley Cup title last season. He played in 56 games, posting a record of 36-10-8 with four shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.26 and a .918 save percentage.
In the Ducks' Stanley Cup run, Giguere went 13-4 with a 1.97 GAA and a .922 save percentage.
The 30-year-old Giguere became an unrestricted free agent after the season, but decided to remain in Anaheim. He signed a 4-year, $24 million contract with the Ducks on June 21.
Giguere earned $3.99 million last season.
