Baseball: Not many TV viewers saw Bonds' 755th homer

Associated Press

BRISTOL, Conn. — Barry Bonds' record-tying 755th home run wasn't see by a whole lot of baseball fans.

Saturday night's game on ESPN2, which began after 10 p.m. EDT, received a 1.1 overnight cable rating, the network said Monday. If that figure remains the same when national ratings are released Tuesday, it would translate to about 1 million households.

New York Mets pitcher Tom Glavine drew a wider audience for his 300th win Sunday night. His victory over the Chicago Cubs, which started after 8 p.m. EDT, received a 3.0 overnight cable rating, which would translate to 2.7 million households.

The overnights measure the largest television markets in the nation.
