Celebrity chef 'Sho' to be at Hawaii's Joy of Sake

One of the Bay Area's most celebrated culinary artists, chef Shotaro "Sho" Kamio of Yoshi's Jazz Club and Japanese Restaurant in Oakland, will be the featured guest chef at The Joy of Sake event Aug. 23 at the Hawai'i Convention Center.

More than 300 varieties of sake will be tasted at the event along with Kamio's signature East-West cuisine, including corn and green onion cold soup with pureed sea urchin, miso-marinated foie gras with soy milk risotto, salt-crusted kurobuta pork fillet and Kona kampachi. Kamio will be working with students of Gros Bonnet Culinary Academy while he's here.

In addition to Kamio, the event will feature chef Lindsey Ozawa of Nobu Waikiki. Also participating: Chai's Island Bistro, Tokkuri Tei, Hakkei, Musashi, Epic, Shigezo, Gyotaku, Marian's and Momoyama.
