Kauai boy, 11, hit by van in critical condition

KAPA'A — An 11-year-old Kaua'i boy was medevaced to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition last night after being hit by a van in Kapahi.According to a preliminary police report, the boy left a private driveway on a dirt bike near the junction of Kawaihau and Kanepo'onui roads at about 6:30 p.m. when he was struck by a Ford van driven by a 43-year-old Kapa'a man, said county spokeswoman Mary Daubert.
The boy was taken to Wilcox Hospital was later transported to Honolulu.
